FINAL EVALUATION// AUDIENCE FEEDBACK

I only asked people that where football fans as then they would be more interested in the information and this is my target audience so I would get better feedback from someone that doesn’t know football.

The first question I asked was very important as I asked how interactive was it on a scale from 1-5, this is important as its the whole project to make my product interactive, they all gave me high scores with one person out of 10 people picking 4 which still means its fairly interactive. This means I did well with my research as I learnt how to make my product as interactive as possible.

Everyone said my magazine engaged them this shows my research was good enough to make an engaging product.

I then wanted to ask what they liked about the magazine as I wanted to know what I did well. People liked lots of different things they liked the layout, the way it worked was easy, they liked the variation and the visuals. This means that I did well to make the magazine look attractive and I did good research to make everything attractive and make a good layout. I also had a good balance of information and interactivity.

I then asked what the person would change about the magazine so then I know what I could do differently next time, a couple of people said they would have wanted some more information on his background so his age, where he was born and some more facts about his height and how he made it into football, this is something I could do if I was to do it again. The good thing is some people said nothing which means it couldn’t be improved which is also good for me as it means I did well.

 

 

Interactive Magazine Creation

First of all I collected lots of information from official sites and put it into a word document, all the links to the information are in there to.

How I got my pictures and videos in was by going to the widgets tab and clicking either the gallery, media or interactive image depending which one I wanted. The whole point of the video is so that people can interact with it and click it to play when they want so after or before they have read the information on the page. This is good so my audience have the power they want over my page.

The gallery means I can put several pictures in at once therefore when the viewer wants to they can click to swipe across to other images and therefore interact with it. This is good as it engages the audience more and gives them more control on what they want to see.

To be able to make the background a certain colour you have to make a shape and then fill the shape with the colour you like as it just does not let you change the colour of the background in anyway.

This is the interactive image, this is really good for my audience to interact with the image and be able to click on what pieces of information they want, when they do this it zooms in to the information you have clicked on and makes it easier to read, then when you click off the text it goes back to the full image so the viewer can click on another piece of information. This gives the viewer options to click on what they want to read and gives them power over what they want to see in the magazine.

 

I did have a problem when going from Ibook author to Ibooks as when I exported this I wasn’t able to see some of the images I had placed in the gallery, to try and solve this I exported the photos that wouldn’t go in into a different file for example JPEG, PNG and PDF and no format would work therefore I couldn’t get to the bottom of this problem and had to miss out on some of my images.

This is the front page to the Virgil Van Dijk magazine I am creating, I am making this in graphics as that is my main task for that lesson the reason I have done the categories at the top of the page are to link with what is going to be inside the magazine. Therefore I am going to do one page on how he won player of the month, one page on his stats this season and one page on all the action he’s been involved in. As this is going to be interactive I will be making sure I do everything with interaction so the player of the month will be an interactive image of how he won it, his stats will come along with pictures and his all the action he has been involved in for Liverpool will be a video. As I go through the planning process I will do a side by side analysis of how I have changed just a normal Liverpool magazine to a more interactive one.

These are my rough page ideas, the first page I want people to see when they turn the page is a picture of the player with a player quote as this is what they have done in the Liverpool player magazines.

This is my next page which is a page on him winning player of the month, as you can see I am making the information more interactive as it is not going to be all around the image it is going to be part of the image, this is what the audience want as they want to feel more involved in the magazine.

The next page is on his season so as you can see I am making it interactive by adding photos that people can slide through whilst reading some information this means I can get more photos on one page where as the normal magazine is just one still image.

This final page is all about Virgil Van Dijk in action therefore this will be a video people can click on to play, around that will be quotes of what people say about the player. This is clearly different as you cannot just buy a magazine from containing a video.

Here you can see how my back page is going to be slightly different to the normal magazine page as at the bottom I will have links to the sites I have used to collect all the information and the links to the picture and videos I have used therefore I can’t get accused of copyright.

The treatment is very important it includes information on my target audience, what my product is and what my intentions are, it also includes information of a rough product plan and just gives you a summary of what I am creating.

This is a rough plan I am going to stick by so then I know I am on target to achieve everything I want to and need to by deadline day, this is extremely important as then you know if your behind schedule or not.

Secondary Research

90 Percent of consumers report that they want more visual and interactive content, this is because its more engaging. It encourages people to compete, compare, test themselves and consume information faster. This is good as I am doing an information magazine all about Virgil Van Dijk and this means people can get information on him a lot faster as I am doing it interactively.

Videos are watched by almost a third of internet users, this means doing a video in my Ibooks Author will make by magazine more clickable and engaging than other magazines without.

To gain a bigger audience I could put it online onto social media like Facebook where there is a lot of people and then my magazine would come up for people that would be interested in sport as thats how Facebook works they show you things based off what you have clicked on before and thats where I can attract more sports fans.

Similar Examples to my idea.

This is similar to the front cover to my magazine however I am only doing one player as mine is on Virgil Van Dijk. The graphics are going to be similar as I am doing it cartoony. I will make sure I match the colours of Liverpool as it makes sense to do that and it’s so people recognise what magazine it is straight away.

Here is another example of magazines that are similar to my idea, as you can see they all have consistent colours from the colours of the kits we have that season as the yellow in the Adam Lallana magazine is from our third kit colour and from the black in the Coutinho and Oxlade- Chamberlain magazine is from a second kit. This is something I will do for my font colours in my Liverpool- Virgil Van Dijk magazine so its consistent and has a meaning. They also have quotes on the front of magazines of the player its either what he’s said or what someone’s said about the player. They also always have Liverpool at the top with the logo next to it this is another consistent theme they stick with, the players name is also normally on it either nest to or around the player however I will have my own style therefore I may change where I put my writing.

Here is a double page spread of a sport magazine as you can see it has a fair bit of writing and a big picture across it as I am doing an interactive magazine I will be making one big picture and making interactive information that you can click on around it.

Primary Research

The first question I asked was what information people would want on Virgil Van Dijk the results where mainly towards his Liverpool career so far as 15 out of 28 people voted for that one, this means I will dedicate a full page on his stats at Liverpool so far as he has been one of the main men that have changed Liverpool for the good. As the others got similar votes I may do a small gallery of pictures of him from different clubs and explain how he went from club to club to show his journey.

Now I wanted to start asking questions for the interactive side of my online magazine, the favourited one was photos of him tackling I think this is good because every football fan loves a big tackle especially those who follow Virgil closely. The other option didn’t really have any other competition as it only got 2 votes.

As I wanted to add videos to it I now wanted to know if my audience would want to see his best moments in football, the majority of my audience said yes which is good as its something I really wanted to do as then you get to see how good he is.

I now needed one more interactive feature therefore I looked at the options I had and gave my audience options the favourited one my a mile was an interactive image this is good as I know how to do these well on Ibooks Author and therefore can get the best out of it.

My Interactive Product

My interactive product is going to be an interactive magazine on Ibooks Author about a football player called Virgil Van Dijk, with this I am going to add my own graphics of the player, add photos, videos and an interactive image. To begin with I did some primary research to find out what my target audience would want and what they would prefer in my interactive magazine.
